PROGRAM MODEL

 

  • The EXPOSURE theme has four sub-themes which are explored during Orientation, day sessions and through the projects.

    a) Self-Awareness: Self-assessment instruments and reflective initiatives allow you to better understand yourself and your role as a leader.

    b) Relationship Building: Connects you to your classmates in a way that creates a foundation for sustained connections during and beyond the program year.

    c) Community Awareness: Participation in each themed day session so that the community can be better understood (see Day Session Overview – next page)

    d) Leadership Skills: Designed to equip you with the tools necessary to lead a successful community change effort.

  • The SKILL DEVELOPMENT theme is designed to equip you with skills to lead. Core leadership skills will be explored and developed during the year. Development areas include: personal leadership, leading by serving, articulating and implementing a vision, thinking creatively, and building a team. Skill development will be emphasized throughout your journey.

  • COMMUNITY EDUCATION will further your local leadership knowledge through relationships, community structure, and awareness of the strategic goals and desires in the community.

  • The PERSONAL BELIEFS AND BEHAVIORAL CHANGE theme is designed to challenge you along your leadership journey. This theme is about addressing how the program strengthens your ability to lead and implement change in the community. There will be plenty of reflective time where you are challenged to assess preconceived notions, stereotypes, and misunderstood information possessed about others in the class and the community.
